The course fees for UK students in 2024 to 2025 are £9,250.
Financial support from the government
You could be eligible for a bursary of £25,000.
To be eligible for a bursary you’ll need a 2:2 degree in any subject. You do not need to apply for a bursary. If you’re eligible, you’ll automatically start receiving it when you start the course.
You may also be eligible for a student loan. These are normally for undergraduate courses but you can also apply if you do postgraduate teacher training. Find out how much loan you could get using the student finance calculator.
Depending on your immigration status, financial support may not be available. Find out about training to teach if you’re a non-UK citizen.
About the training provider
Orion Education is a multi-Academy Trust of 8 schools based in Bromley and the Southeast. Our mission is to improve outcomes, transform lives and enable social mobility. Our work is underpinned by our values of trust, kindness and endeavour and we create warm and welcoming schools for the local community, where every person thrives, makes excellent progress and succeeds. We succeed through aligned autonomy, a clear backbone, a strong culture, academic rigour and smart systems. All of our schools are graded as at least Ofsted Good and outcomes have improved significantly over the last 3 years.
We have an extensive range of experience supporting trainees from the earliest stages in their teaching career through to participation in NPQ programmes and beyond. We are delighted to be partnering with Teach First to offer a provision for initial training teachers across our Primary and Secondary schools. We have a strong established partnership with Teach First and have been chosen by them to be a delivery partner for the SCITT programme. We invest heavily in our staff through an extensive CPD programme, instructional coaching for all and 1-1 mentoring which you will have access to. Our training programme will be delivered by our best practitioners within our Trust and schools and all who have made demonstrable impact on improving schools.
We look forward to working with you.

Interview process
The initial stage of selection is reviewing your application. We ensure your qualifications meet our entry requirements and your personal statement indicates you have a passion for education and your specialised subject. If you are successful, you will be invited to interview at one of our training schools.
The interview day is usually within 7 - 10 days of receiving your application. The interview process will include the following:
• opportunity to ask questions/obtain further information • a panel interview • a subject-specific taught lesson • subject knowledge assessment
International candidates
You’ll need the right to study in the UK. You already have this if, for example, you:
- are an Irish citizen
- have settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme (you may still be able to apply)
- have indefinite leave to remain in the UK
If you do not already have the right to study in the UK, you may need to apply for a visa.
Sponsorship for a student visa is not available for this course.
If you need a visa, filter your course search to find courses with visa sponsorship.
You can also learn more about different types of visa which allow you to train to be a teacher without being sponsored.

International qualifications
If your qualifications come from a non-UK institution, we may want to see a ‘statement of comparability’ from UK ENIC. This will show us how they compare to UK qualifications.
You can call Get Into Teaching on 0800 389 2500 for:
- guidance on the UK equivalents of your qualifications
- a free statement of comparability once you’ve submitted your application (if we ask you for this)
