We remember Holocaust Memorial Day

Across the E21C Trust, schools resonated with the theme of "Fragility of Freedom" on this Holocaust Memorial Day. From solemn assemblies with survivor testimonies to thought-provoking art installations, students engaged in deep reflection on the darkness of the past and the responsibility to uphold freedom today. Powerful silence filled the air during moments of remembrance, while discussions sparked in classrooms as students grappled with the complexities of human nature and the importance of standing up against persecution.

Beyond individual classrooms, a poignant displays in halls around the schools served as hubs for awareness. Showcasing stories of past and present genocides from around the world, it offered students a chilling glimpse into the devastating consequences of intolerance and prejudice. 

This year's observance wasn't simply a day of sombre reflection, but a call to action. Through song, spoken word performances, and even acts of service, students channelled their newfound understanding into meaningful gestures of solidarity and hope. The "Fragility of Freedom" served as a potent reminder that freedom, once lost, is hard-won, and its preservation requires constant vigilance and active participation. In the words of a young student, "Remembering the past isn't enough. We have to use our voices and actions to make sure freedom isn't fragile anymore." And with that resolve, the E21C Trust community stepped forward, committed to building a more just and equitable world.
