Trust Schools Ignite a Passion for Science!
This past week, our Trust schools transformed classrooms into laboratories, igniting a passion for science in students of all ages!
A Stellar Start at Eden Park High School
Year 7 students at Eden Park High School embarked on a cosmic journey during science week. They explored the wonders of the universe, from the Big Bang's echo to the formation of planets and the marvel of evolution. Dissections, bridge-building challenges, and even encounters with the legendary (and unkillable!) tardigrade under microscopes, made learning exciting and interactive. Their "witchcraft lessons" weren't about spells, but about the scientific magic of colour-changing solutions and safe fire demonstrations, proving science can be fascinating and fun.
Spires Academy: Masters of Time and Flame
Spires Academy took a two-pronged approach to science week! Their STEM club explored the concept of time by creating iodine clocks, a captivating experiment that visually showcases the speed of chemical reactions.
Year 10 students at Spires Academy also got fired up about science! They participated in daily assemblies featuring flame testing. By burning various salts and observing the resulting colours, they investigated electron orbit changes and the periodic table. These engaging demonstrations ensured science was a part of everyone's school day at Spires Academy.
These are just a glimpse of the incredible ways our Trust schools are fostering a love of science. By incorporating interactive activities, hands-on experiments, and a touch of wonder, they're making science accessible and exciting for all students.
